In the Spirit of Authentic Collaboration

Every day, nonprofit leaders and their organizations are encouraged to collaborate to optimize resources, to pool our collective talent and to solve important social issues.  The Center for Nonprofit Leadership at California Lutheran University is proud to partner with the Pepperdine Nonprofit Leadership Collaborative to co-convene the annual Nonprofit Leadership Institute.

Now in its ninth year, the Institute was held on Friday, February 19 in the middle of the worst storm in years. That didn’t stop over 80 nonprofit leaders and undergraduate students from Cal Lutheran, Pepperdine and Santa Barbara City College from gathering for this important event!

This year’s keynote speaker was Geoff Green, President & CEO of the Foundation for Santa Barbara City College and Chairman of the Board of CalNonprofits, our state-wide association of nonprofit organizations.  Examining nonprofit overhead, the economic impact of the nonprofit sector and current policy issues and trends, the event afforded an important call to action for the leaders of today and emerging leaders of tomorrow.

Our work is cut out for us, including closing the gap in philanthropic giving in Ventura County!  Join us at the Nonprofit Leadership Council on March 9 for a nonprofit-focused sneak peak of the 2017 State of the Region Report, which will be released by the Ventura County Civic Alliance in May, 2017.

The State of the Region Report provides current data on nearly 80 important Quality of Life Indicators in Ventura County.  This sneak peek will focus on an analysis of philanthropic trends in the region. The pre-release presentation of the data will be followed by a moderated, response panel of local nonprofit, civic and philanthropic leaders who will help make meaning of what is presented.

If you care deeply about our region’s nonprofit sector and strive to build philanthropy in our County, this Nonprofit Leadership Council is one you won’t want to miss!
