Greetings! I am a librarian at Cal Lutheran's Pearson Library and in the past have
taught in the Religion department for the Professionals program. I am a 12th-generation
American and my family and ethnic heritage is of Western and Northern European descent,
including ancestors from Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Germany, and Scandinavia.
I am married and am a mother and grandmother who loves to tell stories and work with
my hands. My academic interests are broad, yet seem to coalesce in what it means to
be a person, and how we can live well with others. These others include those we might
lovingly call animal people, bird people, river people, and plant people. My favorite
first teachers and companions were the ash trees and the birds that lived in my childhood
yard. As a philomath, I have spent much of my adult life learning about all the worlds
we inhabit, or hope to inhabit. My formal education and professional research interests
are broad and interdisciplinary, a fact that can be observed in my Curriculum Vitae.
My awe of mystery and love for knowledge, for creativity, for others, and for the
natural world flow outward in my life and work as an educator and spiritual leader.
A lifelong Southern California resident, you can often find me in contemplation at
the seashore (and in the waves!), or hiking and mountain biking the trails in the
Ojai Valley where I live.
