OEA Faculty-Led Programs Workshop

The Office of Education Abroad (OEA) is soliciting future proposals for faculty-led programs abroad or domestically. Faculty-led programs are opportunities for CLU faculty to expand students' global learning by providing opportunities for students to travel with their faculty member while engaging in scholarly learning. Faculty are invited to join us to learn how to draft a strong proposal submission.A Global History of Chocolate: An Interactive, Multi-Sensory Experience

You will taste a variety of chocolates from different regions, learn about the history
and evolution of chocolate as well as its various uses over the centuries. This guided
experience will also include chocolate pairing with fruits as well as an exploration
of various flavor profiles and textures. This multi-sensory experience will be sure
to leave you delighted!

World Aids Day Event Series

5:30-6:30 p.m. Public Health Careers & Advocacy Reception: explore internship and career paths by meeting with local leaders in HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, education, prevention, and outreach services
6:30-7:30 p.m. Keynote Presentation by Dr. Nina Harawa (UCLA epidemiologist) and Lawrence Dotson (community partner with Dr. Harawa's HIV/AIDS research projects)
7:30-8 p.m. Candlelight Vigil: non-denominational act of commitment to stand together against injustice, marginalization, and oppression of those impacted by HIV/AIDS
Learn local stories by touring the exhibit of AIDS Memorial quilts from Quilt Project Gold Coast

Sustainable Fashion Festival: Styling Workshop

HUB101 is hosting a Sustainable Fashion Festival. Three days of events will feature inspiring workshops, thought-provoking speakers and a captivating sustainable fashion showcase. On Tuesday, Charline Zeroual, a French personal stylist based in LA, will focus on empowering women through sustainable fashion, helping them shop consciously and embrace wardrobe minimalism.

Lutheran College Washington Semester Information Session

The Lutheran College Washington Semester (LCWS) gives students the opportunity to spend a semester in Washington, D.C., pairing academic study with an intensive four-day-a-week internship. With access to over 500 organizations, LCWS works with students from all majors to secure internships that align with their career goals, providing professional experience in fields that interest them.Beyond internships, LCWS ensures students make the most of D.C. by organizing field trips, lectures, and seminars every Friday. These events introduce students to D.C.'s rich culture, politics, arts, social justice initiatives, science and technology, and more, adding depth to their experience in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
Students also take two evening classes weekly at the LCWS office, integrating professional work with academic growth. LCWS’s comprehensive support, including resume and interview prep, helps students make the most of their semester and build connections that can enhance their future careers.

Fulbright-Hays Faculty & Administrator Grant Information Session
Thursday, November 21 CGE Conference Room 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Post-secondary faculty (with preference for the Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences) and administrators (e.g., staff with internationalization emphasis/focus in their work such as career/academic advisors, librarians, tutors, etc.) are invited to apply for the Fulbright-Hays summer seminar abroad program for four weeks in Greece and Turkey (in June/July, dates TBA). The program provides an in-depth exploration of a country to improve understanding and knowledge of the peoples and cultures. Following the seminar experience, participants develop and share a project to provide information about the selected country at one's institution and/or within one's local community in the USA.More details will be online shortly via the U.S. Department of Education website. Indigenous People's Heritage Month Lecture Lunch

Join Campus Ministry for lunch after chapel to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month with keynote speaker Dayna Barrios, Native community leader and the former chairwoman for the Barbareño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians. Barrios will share stories about her Chumash ancestors and how faith has been present in their traditions and culture.
This is a great opportunity to learn about California Native History and heritage, as we continue to build a beloved community under the theme of Healing and Restoration. This event will present information to spark the audience's curiosity and invite them to reflect on how faith inspires communities and individuals throughout history.
I Can't Fly Anymore: Navigating U.S. Immigration Policies and Travel Restrictions

Associate Professor of Criminology and Justice Studies, California State University Northridge
In this session, the presenters will share how U.S. immigration laws and policies have historically restricted immigrants' ability to travel within the United States and internationally. The presenters will also discuss how immigrants today with different legal statuses have been unable to travel domestically and internationally without governmental permission. The event will highlight the Office of Education Abroad's IIE Passport Project.
