The Advisory Council is a group of financial professionals who serve as advisors to our financial planning programs and faculty. The members of the Advisory Council come from a variety of sectors within the financial planning industry. They support our programs on a wide range of activities involving students, faculty and alumni, focusing on program improvements, developing experiential learning opportunities, and promoting close cooperation among the community,
Investment Counselor, Capital Group Private Client Services
As an Investment Counselor at Capital Group Private Client Services, I work directly
with high net worth individuals and families to create customized plans for protecting
and growing their wealth, often across multiple generations. I also help nonprofit
foundations and endowments to realize their long-term financial objectives through
effective planning and investment management.
Our firm is part of Capital Group, one of the world’s largest investment management
organizations. As a result, Capital Group Private Client Services has access to extensive
global research and analysis, providing deep insights into markets around the world.
We also have a team of experienced wealth advisors, who work with clients to create
strategic asset allocation plans uniquely suited for each individual client. In addition,
we offer full trust services and closely coordinate with our clients’ outside advisors
to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Wealth Manager, Avalan
Kathryn Courain is a Wealth Manager at Avalan. She has more than two decades of experience
assisting high-net-worth clients with their total wealth management needs, including
perpetual trust planning, charitable planning and tax planning. She specializes in
managing legal and tax advisor relationships in order to provide clients with a comprehensive
vision of their overall financial goals.
Since each client has unique investment and planning objectives, Kathryn employs different
strategies and solutions to meet specific needs. She provides the necessary unbiased
advice and financial analysis necessary that helps guide clients through the wealth
management process to ensure goals are met.

Ms. Craig has professional experience in financial planning since 1995, and her expertise
lies in wealth management and financial consulting. She serves as a subject matter
expert for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and she has been honored
as one of California Lutheran University School of Management's 25 Silver Anniversary
distinguished alumni for her accomplishment in her field as well as for her contributions
in the community. Ms. Craig has earned numerous awards and honors for her personal
contributions highlighted by receiving Citizen of the Year Awards in two different
communities. I am also a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and an Internationally
Certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor.
I am passionate about helping women and men make enduring lifestyle changes internally,
physically, economically, transcend gender stereotypes, learn what they must about
the challenges of the opposite sex, deepen mutual respect in the process - and thrive
in an exhilarating new climate.

VP Relationship Manager, Mission Bank
Jason Ritchey is a Vice President Relationship Manager for Mission Bank. Mission Bank is a growing community bank that is focused on using its resources to support local businesses. As a Relationship Manager, Jason’s role is to act as a trusted advisor to business owners and real estate investors throughout Ventura County as well as provide customized lending and banking solutions. His goal is to play any part he can in helping local business grow, which helps our community thrive. Jason has been working in banking since he graduated from Westmont College in 2014, where he played basketball all four years. A few years later, he followed up his undergraduate degree with an M.B.A. from CSU Channel Islands in 2018.
Jason happily resides in Ventura with his wife and spends his free time reading, watching movies, camping, and keeping the basketball dream alive in various City Leagues throughout Ventura.
Financial Advisor, Forum Financial Management, LP
Juan Ros, CFP®, AEP®, CSPG, CEPA joined Forum Financial Management, LP in November
2018 as a Financial Advisor. Most recently, Juan was a Partner and Vice President
at Lamia Financial Group, Inc., which joined with Forum in January 2019. Prior to
joining Lamia, Juan held various gift planning and major gift positions at the Ronald
Reagan Presidential Foundation, Occidental College and the ALS Association, helping
to raise millions of dollars in current and deferred gifts.
Juan works closely with legacy-minded families and business owners to enhance, protect
and help transfer their wealth, particularly when charitable planning is involved.
Since 2015, Juan has served on the faculty of the American Institute for Philanthropic
Studies, which awards the CSPG designation. He is a frequent contributor and member
of the editorial board for the monthly publication Planned Giving Today.
Juan serves on the boards of the Conejo Valley Estate Planning Council and the nonprofit
Fit 4 the Cause. He is an active member of ProVisors, the Financial Planning Association,
The Exchange Los Angeles, and is a member and past president of the Los Angeles Council
of Charitable Gift Planners.
Juan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He holds the Accredited Estate
Planner® designation and the Certified Specialist in Planned Giving designation. He
also holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation from the Exit Planning
Institute. He earned an MBA with an emphasis in Financial Planning from California
Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks and a Bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State
University in State College.
Prior to his work in wealth management and philanthropy, Juan worked in the film
industry. His name can be seen in the credits of numerous films including “Cape Fear,”
“JFK” and “The Godfather Part III.” Juan resides in Simi Valley, California, with
his wife and their two sons.
