For Community Partners
Why become a service-learning partner?
Service-learning courses include service projects which are performed by students
on behalf of the community partner. The benefits to our partners goes beyond our students
service hours; it includes their energy, dedication and developing talents.
While the students provide community partners with informational, organizational, social and technical services, they are also developing their expertise. Service-learning provides them the opportunity to apply what they've learned in school to real-world situations and problems affecting their communities.
Our goal is that the relationships built during the course will extend, and that the student will continue to be involved with the community partner.
The responsibilities of the community partner in the service-learning relationship include providing a service opportunity that complements student academic learning, along with adequate assistance to students and feedback to faculty.
