Scholarships are one of the best ways to ensure financial stability while pursuing higher education. Below is a list of veteran scholarships that we are constantly updating and maintaining. This list is comprehensive and should include a scholarship for any sort of person involved with the military. From scholarships for dependents to scholarships for retired military members, even to scholarships for spouses - this list should have you covered!

Scholarships for Active Duty Members/Veterans/Spouses:

Tillman Scholarships Program: The Tillman Scholar program is open to applicants who meet the following criteria: Veteran and active duty service members from all branches of the military including National Guard and Reserves who have served in pre- and post-9/11 service area, as well as current spouses of veteran or active duty service members, including surviving spouses.

Heroes Fund Scholarships: Eligible recipients must meet 1 of the following requirements: Be a recipient of the prestigious Purple Heart; Rated 50-100% disabled by the Department of Veterans Affairs for “combat-related” Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); Rated 50-100% disabled by the Department of Veterans Affairs for “combat-related” injury, illness, or condition; A spouse was killed in action during one of the Gulf Wars.

General George S. Brown Spouse Tuition Assistance Program (STAP): There are various STAP scholarships for spouses in all branches. Please rewview this website to learn more about how to apply.

Hope for The Warriors Spouse Scholarships: Eligibility is based on a spouse or caregiver’s ability to show their post-9/11 service member or veteran sustained a combat-related injury and/or has a 100% permanent and total VA disability rating to include Individual Unemployability. The Hope For The Warriors Scholarship Program considers a combat-related injury to be an injury caused by armed conflict, hazardous duty, instrumentality of war, and simulated war.

The Army Women's Foundation Legacy Scholarships: Several different types of scholarships that are available for active duty Army members, active duty Army veterans, and dependents of Army members.

Scholarships for Dependents:

The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant: Grants ranging from $500 to $4,000 are awarded to eligible Air Force dependents each year. The specific amount awarded correlates to a student’s particular level of financial need.

ThanksUSA Scholarship Program: Applicants must be dependents of any branch or spouses of any branch and must be pursuing their first degree. (Master's programs or graduate-level study are not eligible.)

Patriot Legacy Fund Scholarships: Applicants must be unmarried, under 23, and a dependent of a US Veteran with a VA service-connected disability rating of 10% or higher.

Folds of Honor Scholarships: Scholarships are for one (1) of the following categories: high school students who are concurrently enrolled in college courses or undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in community college, college or a university; certificate/licensure/technical program (accredited programs are vetted and approved by a third-party foundation).

Fisher House Foundation Scholarship for Military Children: Only students who possess a valid (not expired) U.S. Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card and whose parent(s) are serving, or have served, in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard may apply for a scholarship. Dependent children of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), Public Heath Service, other federal or military related agencies or activities, or DoD civilian employees are not eligible unless they meet the above requirement.

Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund: The dependent son or daughter of a U.S. Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Guardsman or Marine who has: been killed in action; become 100% total & permanently disabled as a direct result of a combat mission, or suffered a major limb amputation due to enemy action; been classified as a Prisoner of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA); been awarded the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Air Force Cross, or the Coast Guard Cross; or been involved in a training accident that resulted in the death of the service member or caused an immediate inability to continue serving (100% total and permanently disabled).

Heroes' Legacy Scholarships: Dependent unmarried children under age 23 of active duty personnel, Reserve/Guard and retired military members, or survivors of service members who died while on active duty may apply for a Heroes' Legacy Scholarship if they meet one of the following additional criteria: One of the parents died while serving on active duty on or after September 11, 2001 in any branch or component of the U. S. Armed Forces OR One of the parents, while serving on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, became disabled - meaning that the parent qualified for receipt of Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) OR One of the parents, who was on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, received a permanent and total compensation rating of 100% from the Department of Defense or Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship: To be eligible for this scholarship award, applicants must be a surviving spouse or a surviving child of a deceased service member from a service-related death OR a veteran with a 100% service-connected disability.

Army Scholarship Foundation: Scholarships are only available to children of current or former Army service members and spouses of current Army service members.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation: Must be the child/step-child of one of the following: active duty, reserve, or veteran U.S. Marine; a Marine killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; Active duty, reserve, or veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who is/was attached to a U.S. Marine Corps unit or who was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit; or A U.S. Navy Chaplain or Religious Programs Specialist who is/was attached to a U.S. Marine Corps unit or who was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit.

Chief Petty Officer Scholarship Foundation: Applicants must be the immediate family member of either an active duty, retired, honorably discharged, reserve or deceased Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy. (children may be natural, adopted or step-children)

Allied Van Lines Scholarship: A Military Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Operational Management Scholarship, available to all those current or former active duty military and their dependents who qualify. Please review the site for more details.

Wings Over America Scholarship: Applicants mus be a Navy Aviation dependent child or spouse and whose sponsor has served a minimum of 8 years in Naval Aviation - squadrons, carriers, or air stations. (Marine and Coast Gaurd aviators are not eligible.)

Military Child of the Year Awards: The annual awards will recognize eight outstanding young people ages 13 to 18. Seven of them will represent a branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard — for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life. Military Child of the Year® Award recipients will be flown with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., to be recognized at a gala, during which senior leaders of each branch of service will present the awards. They also will receive $10,000 each, a laptop computer, and other donated gifts.
