Residency Policy

At Cal Lutheran, we view living on campus as an important part of a student's complete educational experience. Studies show that living on campus increases 4-year graduation rates, grade point averages, and student involvement.

Full-time students (those who have 12 or more units per semester) enrolled in a traditional undergraduate program are required to live on campus through their Junior year (90 or more units). Senior standing students can still choose to live on campus. All students who live in University housing are making a commitment to abide by campus policies, as outlined in the Student Handbook.

Exceptions to the policy:
  • Students who are married
  • Students admitted as a Transfer Student
  • 23 years of age or older
  • Students living with their parent(s)/legal guardian(s) within 30 miles of the campus at the address on their original university application

Housing contracts are for the full academic year, meaning students are required to live on campus for both fall and spring semesters. Students may move off-campus between semesters if they are graduating, studying abroad, transferring or withdrawing from Cal Lutheran.

Housing Cancellations

Students who are not bound by the Residency Policy are eligible to cancel their housing if desired. View cancellation deadlines and corresponding penalties
