What to Pack
Do not pack more than you can carry by yourself! If you get stuck in an airport along the way, you may have to carry your luggage a long distance. You may ship items ahead of time. Be sure to include a detailed list of the items in each package along with the declared value for customs.
Please refer to Residence Life for specific information about your residence hall, and your room equipments. Don't forget your adaptor!
Bed Linens
The beds in the residence halls are "twin size extra long". You have three options:
- Bring linens with you
- Buy linens, towels and other bulky items after you arrive
- Order linens and ship them to the Center for Global Engagement
Cash
Exchanging money at a major bank abroad will give you a better exchange rate than at the airport, Do not bring a large amount of cash with you but make sure to have enough for your immediate needs upon arrival:
- Transportation from the airport
- A few meals, as on-campus dining may not be immediately available at your arrival
- A hotel (depending on your arrival date)
- Books, personnal items
Credit Card
All international students are urged to bring a Visa or MasterCard with them. They are extremely useful in case of emergencies. Most car rental agencies also require a credit card.
Traveler's Checks
Ask your bank for traveler’s checks which are readily negotiable in the U.S. and which guarantee refunds in case checks are lost or stolen. (Good check options: American Express, Visa or Barclays)
Bring some items from home to share or showcase during the cultural festivals we host on campus.
