New Student Checklist
Follow this timeline to keep track of the required steps you need to take before your first day of class at Cal Lutheran.
- Required: You must complete this step. Pay extra attention to required steps.
- If applicable: This step is required for some incoming students.
- Optional: You do not have to complete this step, but can if you want to/if it applies to you.
June 2025
Submit Course Registration Preferences (If applicable)
Due: June 1
- For new, first-year students
- An academic adviser will be reviewing your course preferences to help you create your schedule of classes for next year. They will set you up for long-term academic success and assist in creating a schedule that includes your input.
- You may update this form multiple times up until the deadline.
Submit Final Transcripts (Required)
Due: August 1
- For first-year students: As soon as your final high school transcripts are available, have your high school send them to us. Usually this is done through a request to your high school counselor. Ask your high school counselor to send your transcripts electronically, by email to admissions@CalLutheran.edu or physically to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
- For transfer students: Incoming transfer students who were enrolled in Spring 2025 coursework must send a final official transcript as soon as grades are posted. You should refer to your current community college or university student portal to complete the ordering process. Transcripts are only considered official when they are received directly from the transcript vendor.
- Final transcripts must include all final grades and proof of completion.

Complete Math Placement Exam (If applicable)
Due: June 27
- For new, first-year students
- Complete the exam here
- This required online assessment will assist us in selecting the most appropriate course placement for you this coming fall. Students who choose not to take the exam or do not submit a Math AP/IB score will be enrolled in Math 110 (Intermediate Algebra) or Math 131 (Essential Statistics), depending on their major..

Sign a CLU Master Promissory Note (Required)
Due: August 15
- Complete the form here
- This form describes the financial responsibility for payment of any unpaid portion of your student charges.
Submit FERPA Preferences for Student Accounts (Required)
Due: August 15
- Complete the form here
- The FERPA Act requires that we safeguard and maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all student records, which prohibits discussion of financial matters with anyone other than the student except by written consent of the student.
Submit Health Forms (Required)
Due: August 1
- All new students must submit required health forms and an official immunication record.

July 2025
Transfer Students: Register for T2CLU (If applicable)
Due: Register as soon as possible
- All incoming transfer students need to attend a T2CLU event in order to register for courses.
- Online and in-person dates are available in July and August

Pay Your Tuition and Fees (Required)
Due: August 15
- Fall 2025 billing statements will be available starting mid-July.
- You can choose to pay your balance in full or enroll in a payment plan by the August 15 deadline.

Register for New Student Orientation (Required)
Due: Registration opens July 14; register as soon as possible after that.

Establish Contact with Your Peer Advisor
Date: Mid-July
- Your Peer Advisor will be reaching out to you during the summer. Be expecting their call and be sure to get in contact with them before Orientation. They are a great source of information and will help you prepare for Orientation and your first year at Cal Lutheran.
Couse Schedules Ready
Date: Mid-July
- For new, first-year students
- Your Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 course schedules will be ready in mid-July. When ready, you'll receive an email notification on how to view them in MyCLU.
Complete the Virtual Pre-Orientation (Required)
Due: August 20
- The Virtual Pre-Orientation will cover everything you need to know before attending Orientation.

August 2025
Housing Assignments Available
Date: August 1
- For students living on campus, housing assignments will be available to view in MyCLU.
Register for a parking permit (Optional)
Due: After August 1
- If you bring a vehicle to campus, you need a permit. Permits are free but mandatory.

Upload a Photo for Your ID Card (Optional)
Due: August 15
- Submit your photo online for your Cal Lutheran ID card to receive it when you arrive at Orientation.
- If you do not upload a photo ahead of time, you will need to take a photo with Campus Safety during Orientation.

Enroll in the "4 to Finish" Program (Optional)
Due: September 30
- If you are a first-year student and would like to enroll in the "4 to Finish" Program, you are required to complete the agreement and return it to Academic Services before September 30.
- The agreement for Fall 2025 will be available TBD.
Submit the Forrest Fitness Center Waiver (Optional)
Due: Before using the fitness center
- The Forrest Fitness Center is available for use by all currently enrolled students.

Attend New Student Orientation!
Date: August 22-23
- You made it! At New Student Orientation, you'll become part of the Cal Lutheran community, build new relationships, get involved, learn how to navigate the campus, and prepare to start or continue your college journey successfully.
