Purpose and Goals

Cal Lutheran has a responsibility to help all students retain and persist to graduation. In the first stage of institution-wide retention efforts, our goal is to raise the first-year retention rate to a new peak within its seven year history, while also identifying long-term plans.

Goal for 2024-25

Retain 81% of first-year students

Our retention goal for the 2024-25 academic year is to achieve a first-year traditional undergraduate student (TUG) retention rate of 81% to next academic year (407 of 502 students).

Long-term Goals

As our Core Team Members continue to analyze retention factors through associated data and partnerships with the campus community, we will be pursuing immediate action to reach our retention goal by Fall 2024.

Through that work, we also aim to identify practices that can be embedded into campus operations to continually improve retention efforts and student satisfaction over time.

More information about these efforts will be posted to this website as they are developed.
