Where is UPWARD BOUND located?
The campus of California Lutheran University is just one hour north of Los Angeles, in the city of Thousand Oaks. The campus affords a beautiful and relaxed setting for the summer residential program, within a half hour of both the mountains and beaches. Campus facilities include a well-equipped science center, new Educational Technology Building and Social Sciences building, computer laboratories, library and new North Campus Sports Complex and Arena. Recreational facilities on campus include volleyball and tennis courts, soccer and football fields, and extensive grounds. Thousand Oaks is one of the prime scientific research and development areas of the country. Upward Bound Program students will have an opportunity to interact with scientists at the leading high technology companies in the area.
How much does it cost?
It costs you nothing! Upward Bound Program activities are offered at no cost; accommodations, meals, transportation, tuition, field trips, and other program activities are all free.
Who is eligible to attend?
- Students must be from a low-income family, or from a family whose parents have not graduated from a four-year institution. Two-thirds of our students must be both.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in the United States
- Currently a freshman, sophomore or junior
- Have a strong desire and commitment to attend a four-year university or college
Application Process
Ready to apply to the Updated Bound Program? Follow steps 1 and 2 below, and we'll guide you through the rest.
- Complete the Pre-screening Questionnaire (PSQ)
- Return the PSQ to Upward Bound
- Applications will be emailed out to eligible students who complete the PSQ
- Complete and submit the application
- Students admitted to the program will be notified via email
