Benefits of Joining
The mentor-mentee relationship enables students to learn one-on-one from professionals within the Cal Lutheran community. It provides mentees with the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice. Becoming a VITAL Mentor is a great way to share your education and professional experiences and have a positive impact on a Cal Lutheran student. Please note at this time the mentor role is open to exempt employees only; VITAL is looking to expand this in the future. This position is compensated, and mentors who complete the program will receive a stipend.

- Mentors will meet with their mentees one-on-one (virtually or in person) three times throughout the fall semester; these meetings are to last 30 minutes to 1 hour. The VITAL office will provide resources and questions to help guide these meetings
- Mentors assist their mentees in building confidence, exploring interests and passion, and providing their professional insight
- Mentors will be a resource and a guide to mentees to support their career aspirations and academic goals
- Mentors must attend both the on-campus welcome orientation to meet their mentee and the on-campus end-of-the-year program celebration
- Mentors will submit a brief log after each one-on-one meeting with their mentees
