  • These loans are offered by third-party private lenders and interest rates range depending on the servicer. Most of the time, they do require a U.S. citizen as a co-signer, and a credit check is involved.
• Cal Lutheran Payment Plan
  • Cal Lutheran has a payment plan which allows you to pay any remaining balance (that financial aid doesn’t cover) in monthly installments.

If your financial situation has changed dramatically, please contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if you might be eligible to appeal for any financial aid adjustments. Review the appeal form for more information on what is required.

• Student Employment Office - Cal Lutheran
  • International or foreign born students who are enrolled at least part-time in a degree seeking program (undergraduate, graduate, or professionals) may be eligible to work on-campus. All students are required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the US and students must apply for a social security card prior to working.

• Cal Lutheran Global Engagement Fund
  • The Cal Lutheran Global Engagement Fund serves as a financial resource program intended to offer assistance to students in crisis or address financial needs in support of global education initiatives at Cal Lutheran. The program is made possible by generous donors supporting Cal Lutheran student success.
• Community Cupboard
  • The Community Cupboard provides non-perishable food items, grocery store gift cards, and Ullman Commons guest meals to any current Cal Lutheran student who may need additional support.
• Health, Counseling and Safety
  • As a student at Cal Lutheran, your wellbeing is our number one priority. Our close-knit nature as a private, liberal arts institution means that we look after one another, and our community of faculty, staff, and fellow students are authentically invested in you.

• National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA)
  • This resource provides information primarily for students with nonimmigrant visas (F-1, J-1, etc.)
• StudentAid.gov – Non U.S. Citizens
  • The OISS assist international students on F1 and J1 status. However, there are other students who hold a different type of U.S. visa/status and attend higher education institutions. Visit the link above for financial aid eligibility information.
• Study California Scholarship
  • Each fall, Study California awards a scholarship to five international students planning to continue at a Study California member institution. Scholarship recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic ability, financial need, and leadership qualities. The scholarship award is $1,000 per student recipient and is not renewable.
• OAS Rowe Fund Program
  • The Rowe Fund Program of the Organization of American States (OAS) aims to support Latin American and Caribbean students pursuing higher education in the United States by providing interest-free loans and supplementary scholarships. Check out the website above for more details and yearly application deadlines.
