Honors Day

Students must meet the following eligibility criteria to be invited to Honors Day:

1. Be a first-year applicant to Cal Lutheran
2. Submit a complete Early Action Application by November 15, and be admitted to Cal Lutheran
3. Meet invite qualifications (eligible students will be notified by the admission office upon review of their application)

All students invited to Honors Day are also invited to join the University Honors Program.

These are the important dates and deadlines for the 2024 Honors Day events.

November 15, 2023

• Submit your application for admission and all supporting documentation by November 15th in order to be considered for Honors Day. Your application is considered complete when we have received:
  • Your application
  • Application fee
  • Essay
  • Test scores or Supplemental Questions (depending on if you apply test-optional or not)
  • Transcripts
  • Letter of recommendation

January 26, 2024

• Honors Day event #1 on campus from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

February 2, 2024

• Honors Day event #2 on campus from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Attire
You are encouraged to wear attire that will fill you with confidence as you complete your interview.

The interview
Students will have one interview for the Presidential Scholarships. The Presidential Scholarships range up to full tuition for four years. Each interview will be with one member of the Cal Lutheran community, and will last approximately 20 minutes. The interview is an effort to get to know each student a little bit better. The interviewers will not be asking questions designed to mislead or confuse students. Questions in previous years have revolved around activities and interests; books, journals, or articles read outside of the classroom; what's happening in the world today; and an inspirational person.

9:15 - 9:45 am - Breakfast & Welcome

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Featured Lecture & Discussion

11:00 - 11:20 p.m. - Break

11:20 - 12:00 p.m. - The Honors Experience at Cal Lutheran

12:15 p.m. - Lunch or Campus Tour

1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Presidential Scholarship Interviews & Undergraduate Research Session

3:00 - 3:15 p.m. - Check out
