About

Dr Louise A. Kelly joined the California Lutheran University family in 2008. In 2005, she earned her PhD in Pediatric Exercise Science from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She subsequently completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California. She has conducted research on the etiology, prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity, prevention of type 2 diabetes and obesity related cancers in minority youth. She has expertise in methodologies such as nutritional assessment, accelerometer, indirect calorimeter, and doubly labeled water. Her research is currently focused on the role of exercise in the prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity and metabolic disorders. She also served as the Director for the Center for Academic Service Learning (CASL). Currently, she is the PI for a longitudinal study investigating concussions funded by the NCAA and the Department of Defence.
