The oil industry has been scrutinized for large amounts of carbon emissions. BP struggles with the company image due to unsafe practices, accidents, controversies, and lack of transparency. In 2020, BP introduced a new purpose: to “reimagine energy for people and our planet,” using the SDGs as guidelines. The company aspires to become net zero by 2050. Despite the significant progress in addressing SDGs, the company is often accused of greenwashing and lacks public trust.
