  • Hate Crimes as Message Crimes: Understanding Harm and the Impact of Hate
    This presentation focuses on the impact of hate crimes as message crimes on targeted populations, especially Asian Americans.


Helen Ahn Lim earned her undergraduate degree in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Indiana University, Bloomington.  Dr. Lim has held teaching positions at Indiana University, Bloomington and Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey.  Her current research focuses on service-learning.  Dr. Lim has also served as Director of the Center for Academic Service-Learning.  She currently serves as Professor and Chair for the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department.
